ABOUT THIS BOOK:

RomanticGentleComforting

Win has always been confident and adventurous despite her disability. It never stopped her from doing the things she wants. Although she often feels the need to prove to the world that she can do everything independently, her disability doesn’t define her—it simply makes her unique and stronger.

At her best friend’s costume party, she ends up hooking up with the tall and charming Bo. Later, she finds out she’s pregnant and decides to keep the baby.

Bo doesn’t hesitate to step up. He immediately offers his support and makes sure both Win and the baby are cared for.

Together, Win and Bo decide to get to know each other so they can co-parent their child. But as they spend more time together, they realize they might be getting to know each other on a much deeper level than just friends.

What did I like the most?

This book made me realize that despite your flaws—whether it’s a disability or personal insecurities—nothing should stop you from living a great and fulfilling life. It shows that the path we take ultimately depends on the choices we make for ourselves.

It also reminds me that no matter how unpredictable a story’s plot may be, the ending is always shaped by the author. In the same way, our lives are influenced by the decisions we choose to make..

What I liked the least (and why)?

I truly can’t think of anything I disliked about this book. It was that enjoyable from beginning to end.

During the brief car ride to Sarah's house, I read pamphlets out loud until we're both sure that pregnancy and babies are completely terrifying and, in equal measure, magical.

Don’t be fooled by the book cover — this story definitely has some unexpected spice! 🌶️📚

The characters in this book actually seem to have better lives than me despite their disabilities. It really shows how capable they are and proves that having a disability doesn’t define what someone can achieve or how full their life can be.

This might be one of my favorite books this year.

I absolutely loved the writing — it’s so witty and engaging. This book made me giggle and also made me feel deeply for every character. Hannah Bonam-Young’s writing is truly phenomenal.

When I first saw the cover of Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young, it looked so wholesome and sweet that you wouldn’t expect any spice in the story. So don’t be fooled by the cute and cozy cover of this book!

The story actually starts off pretty wild with Win, but one thing I can say is that the humor in this book is amazing. I honestly can’t remember a moment while reading when I didn’t have a smile on my face. The pacing is also fast, which made the book very easy and enjoyable to read.

Win’s character is the very definition of a strong and independent woman. I especially appreciated how the story shows that being a person with a disability does not mean being incapable of doing things in life. Win constantly proves that her disability doesn’t define her abilities. Instead, the book sends a powerful message that people with disabilities are just as capable of pursuing the life they want and should never be pitied.

I also love how this story sends a powerful message about body positivity, reminding readers that everyone deserves love, confidence, and acceptance just as they are.

Now I want to talk about Bo Durand. This man is a dream! Gentle, handsome, rich, and a total nerd? That combination is already a win for me. And despite having only one leg, he is confident, charming, and definitely knows how to keep Win happy. This is exactly my type of guy! I don’t know about you, but for me, Bo is definitely a dream.

His backstory also hits hard, but it only made me love his character even more. After everything he went through, he still chooses to love life and enjoy it. That kind of resilience makes his character even more admirable.

Another thing I love about this book is how it portrays the experience of an unexpected pregnancy. It shows that while pregnancy can be scary and overwhelming, there is also so much joy in creating a new life. Bo accepting the baby without hesitation truly felt like a dream scenario. I wish more men had that same mindset—being supportive, present, and willing to help the mother through such an important and challenging time.

Overall, this book is powerful, inspiring, sweet, and romantic. I love the themes of acceptance, growth, love, and support between the main characters. While not everyone has this kind of support system in real life, the characters in this book show that independence, strength, and compassion can still help people build the life they want.

Pregnancy and babies are completely terrifying and, in equal measure, magical.
